Candle Care Guide

A well-cared-for candle burns evenly, throws its scent fully and lasts for every hour it promises.

On the first light, burn for 2–3 hours until the melted wax reaches the edge of the vessel — this stops tunnelling. Trim the wick to 5 mm (3 mm for wooden wicks) before every light. Never burn for more than 4 hours at a stretch, keep the candle away from draughts, and stop when 1 cm of wax remains. Snuff the flame rather than blowing it out. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.

Once your candle is finished, pour hot water into the vessel, let the last of the wax float up, and wash it out — our ceramic cups make lovely planters and pen pots.
